Gate & Bar Appointed

Gate & Bar have been appointed on 2 further phases of the Gyldegate development in Bradford.

Glydegate was formally 3 nightclub units and is now being converted into a modern multifunctional Church and the new home of Fountains Church Bradford.

Nathan Hughes was appointed for Phase 1 that completed in December and has now been appointed for Phase 1a and 2. The Glydegate project started with Nathans long term client The Diocese of Leeds and an exiting new Church, Fountains. It got off to a bumpy start with the vacant building throwing up a few issues including security and extensive hazardous waste clearance. Phase 1 not only converted a 3rd of the building into a café and congregation space to give Fountains Church a permanent home but also cleared and stripped the entire building.

Phase 1a is to covert a basement area of the building into a food storage and sorting facility. This is a real feel good project that takes intercepted food and redistributes to those in need. Work on site has already begun with local contractor PEC starting on the the 5th January.

Role: Project Manager, Contract Administration, Quantity Surveyor and Principal Designer

Phase 2 is a significant follow up to Phase 1 and sees another 3rd of the building completely refurbished includes the extensive refurbishment to convert the South side of the building into office space, commercial/ teaching kitchen and a multi use café and community space. Gate & Bar have made good early progress with the issue of tender information in the first week of January.
